SOL

is a 27 foot tall sculpture, created to evoke a presence of life, a spirit, in an abstract pile of skillfully formed metal shapes.  It relies on a solar panel array to power its 2 gear motors, a 4 speaker horn loaded sound system, and numerous computer control systems and circuitry.  In proper conditions, SOL tracks the people surrounding it with a video camera "eye" and visual tracking program. It reacts to the movement of whatever it sees.
